Making Space for Anger - June 8th

We need to make space for ALL of our feelings - they are all important!

Making art is a great way to understand and express them and the art activity in this video is a lot of fun to do! (you will need paper, scissors and glue)

Feel Good Lists and Rainbow Moments -June 1st

feel good list.jpg

Meta Moment teaches us to pause, sense how we are feeling, and maybe take a break if we need to.  When we feel better, we usually make better choices about how we act toward ourselves and toward others.

Think about the things that you do that make you feel better.

Read a book?

Talk to a friend?

Listen to music?

Make a list and hang it up at                                  home to remind you of what

you can do next time you need

to feel better.  Here is mine,

hanging about our calendar!

Mood Meter, Meta Moment and Rex!  - May 25th

The Meta Moment tool teaches us how helpful it can be to take a moment to check in with how we are feeling, and to pause and think about what we want to do next.  When you do this, you may just come up with an idea that everyone feels good about.  Click on the video to hear how Gizmo comes up with a great solution to a problem he and his friends have!

We can do hard things! - May 18th

Light Gray Mobile Case

Positive self-talk is a great way to encourage yourself when things are hard .  You probably tell your friends things like "stay strong" and "you can do it".  Shouldn't you say these kind statements to yourself as well?

Click on the video to hear me read "I Can Do Hard Things"  by Gabi Garcia. At the end, I share a few of the positive statements I say to myself when I do hard things.

What positive and kind statements can you tell yourself when you do hard things?

Perseverance - May 11th

Perseverance means not giving up when a task is hard.  We are all persevering together right now, making the best of a tough situation, staying at home and even working at home,  to keep our community safe.

Click on the video of me for if would like to hear about a couple of strategies I use to persevere.

Then click on this bonus video if you would like to watch my dog persevere in her goal of getting my cat to groom her.  Chloe (the dog) often falls off the couch in this attempt, but she perseveres!

By the way, Chloe's breaks include laying in the sun and her kind self talk is "I can do this" (at least that is what I imagine!).

Helping - May 4th

In Stone Soup, three monks help villagers come together to make soup, and rediscover the joy of helping each other.

A lot of people in our community are helping each other right now too - such as delivering groceries to neighbors.

Being Thankful - April 27th

There are a lot of things that we miss right now: our friends, teachers, and playing on playgrounds are just a few of them!

BUT, there is still so much to be thankful for, and remembering this can make us feel a little happier.
